Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic Roberto Alvarez today to reaffirm the United States' strong partnership with the Dominican Republic, and to discuss his upcoming visit to Santo Domingo. Secretary Rubio thanked the Dominican Republic for agreeing to host the next Summit of the Americas and Cities Summit. Secretary Rubio also expressed appreciation to the Dominican Republic for speaking out against the Maduro regime's anti-democratic actions in Venezuela. Secretary Rubio and Foreign Minister Alvarez discussed the need to strengthen hemispheric security, including in Haiti.
