Rubio Talks With Indonesian FM Sugiono

Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono today. Secretary Rubio and Foreign Minister Sugiono recognized the importance of the U.S.-Indonesia relationship and affirmed the contribution of our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

The two leaders discussed the importance of peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, including an exchange of views on maritime security in the South China Sea. The leaders also expressed shared commitment to prioritizing national economic growth and recognized the importance of working together to deepen trade and investment in areas advantageous to both our countries. Secretary Rubio welcomed Indonesia's willingness to engage on Middle East peace and post-conflict reconstruction.
