Rundle Mall Sting

A police operation focusing on public safety and shop theft in Rundle Mall has resulted in 14 arrests and 20 reports.

On Thursday 20 June officers from Eastern District's Operation Measure with the assistance of patrols, Loss Prevention Officers and retailers conducted a proactive undercover sting in Rundle Mall.

As a result of the operation, 14 people were arrested for theft and other offences, 20 people were reported and 3 people were issued drug diversion notices for simple possession offences. Goods recovered from the thieves included clothing, cologne and cosmetics.

Arrests of note included a 38-year-old Fullarton man who was arrested after being located with cosmetics in his possession. Further checks revealed the man was wanted for questioning over a number of other reported thefts.

A 17-year-old Blair Athol girl was arrested after she was found in possession of stolen high-end clothing. Checks showed the girl was also wanted in relation to several alcohol thefts.

A 37-year-old Elizabeth South man was arrested after a police check revealed he was breaching bail. He was also wanted for an aggravated residential serious trespass from a Firle home on Monday 17 June. He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today. CO2400023321

Police will continue to take swift action to apprehend and prosecute those people that attend the Adelaide CBD to commit crime.
