The Department of Planning, Housing & Infrastructure (DPHI) has arranged for public exhibition of the Rushforth Water Treatment Plant Upgrade Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to be from Thursday 31 October 2024 to Wednesday 27 October 2024.
The Rushforth Water Treatment Plant has been servicing the Clarence Valley for over a century. Clarence Valley Council is seeking planning approval for possible upgrading of the plant to improve water quality, capacity and security of potable water for residents in the region.
Before upgrades can be completed the project must undertake relevant statutory approvals at both a state and commonwealth level, with one of the main requirements being an EIS.
When determined by the Department, the EIS will provide planning approval for the project. The planning approval will enable upgrading of the plant to ensure ongoing water quality, capacity and security of potable water for residents.
Following EIS determination Council will decide whether to proceed with the upgrade of the Water Treatment Plant.
An EIS drop-in community information session will be held at Council's Grafton Chambers, 2 Prince Street Grafton from 4:30pm to 6:30pm on Wednesday 6 November.
The EIS can be accessed via the "On Exhibition" page on Council's website or through the "Major Projects" section of the NSW Planning Portal (https://www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/major-projects).
EIS submissions need to be made through the Planning Portal.
