Campaspe Shire Council has announced additional investigations will shortly start to inform any future works required as the last part of the Rushworth streetscape project.
Acting General Manager Infrastructure Mark Dibsdale said the investigations will capture the remaining works required including the western side of High Street, between Moora Road and Wigg Street and the area in front of the Post Office.
"To be clear for the community, this is investigation only, no funds have been allocated, and no timelines are in place for any works," Mr Dibsdale said.
"To inform this part of the project, one on one discussions will be undertaken with landowners along the western side of High Street to capture the intricacies of each property.
"There are many verandas on the western side, all of different widths and construction types and some of the properties have cellars or basements adding more complexity to the work which needs to be reconsidered.
"We may not be able to replace footpaths where a cellar or basement exists, and therefore will need to look at design options available to ensure a consistent look and feel is achieved.
"We already know the existing inground assets will need to be relocated or lowered. This component particularly impacted works on the eastern side as well as increasing overall project costs. We will be looking at options to minimise the impacts of existing services and assets as we plan for any future work.
"We also acknowledge that the community was impacted with works on the eastern side during 2021. Due to many complexities and unknown factors, the works took much longer than anticipated, with the project closed off prior to Christmas."
"Our focus is to revisit and complete a robust design process capturing all the information to feed into a detailed design to support any future construction."
