Russia warns US of repercussions of helping Ukraine

A senior Russian diplomat sternly warned Washington Friday against providing intelligence and satellite support to Ukraine, saying there will be specific repercussions.

The United Nations Security Council met following Russian claims that weapons supplied to Ukraine by Western countries have ended up in the hands of criminal gangs.

Russia is closely watching the on-the-ground assistance for HIMARS installations, personnel training and "use of American military satellites to guide missiles", Russian news agencies quoted as Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya as saying.

"US military personnel on the ground are participating in satellite and intelligence assistance, loading accurate coordinates to the guidance software, and monitoring and adjusting the effectiveness of the missle systems," he said.

"Russia is carefully recording all such criminal actions by the United States and its allies" and "there will be specific repercussions for all those involved".

"Military support in this scale has not been provided to any state in history. More than the military budgets of most NATO states has been spent in less than a year on arming Ukraine", he said, according to Russian agencies.

He also dismissed Iran's supply of drones to Russia as "the West's unfounded allegations", claiming "the Russian military-industrial complex is capable of coping with any tasks, and we do not need anyone's help".
