Kilmore's Ryans Creek Reserve is set to receive a significant upgrade as Mitchell Shire Council begins construction on stage two of its development.
Building on the success of stage one, completed in late 2020, which saw the installation of a large play space, pathways, and solar lighting, the next phase will focus on activating the northern section of the Reserve.
Thanks to a $1.1 million investment, including $900,000 from the Victorian Government and $200,000 from Council, the project will bring new facilities and improved connectivity to the Reserve including:
- Accessible unisex toilet block (near existing play space and BBQ)
- Reserve car parking (Pauline Way and Parkview Drive)
- Pedestrian bridge and crossing
- New linking pathways with solar lighting
- Plantings and seating areas
- Outdoor fitness equipment station
- Soccer goals and kickabout area
- Pump track
The first phase of construction has begun with the installation of the accessible unisex toilets. Other elements of the project are set to commence in early 2025.
New Mitchell Shire Councillor Riley Evans said Council was excited to move forward with this next stage of improvements.
"This project is about making the Reserve more accessible and welcoming for people of all ages and abilities, while creating a space where the community can come together and stay active," he said.
"These new additions will create a space that offers something for everyone -whether you're looking for a place to exercise, relax, or simply enjoy the outdoors.
"We're very grateful for the Victorian Government's support in helping us deliver these important upgrades for the Kilmore community."
