SA Police Officer Injured In Northern Territory

A South Australia Police officer on deployment to the Northern Territory has received minor injuries during a routine arrest.

The officer has been treated in the Alice Springs Hospital last night and will return to South Australia.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Linda Williams said senior officers have spoken to the injured officer.

"The officer is in good spirits despite the injury to his hand. He is in the final stages of his deployment period but will return home early for further treatment as a matter of caution," Deputy Commissioner Williams said.

"Unfortunately because of the nature of the work police officers undertake, they can receive injuries from time to time, when this happens we work to give them the best treatment available."

The Senior Constable is part of the second of four rotations to the Northern Territory with the third arriving on Monday.
