- WA Bike Month runs for the month of October to promote bike riding across WA
- Events encourage people of all ages and abilities to give bike riding a go
- State Government committed to making active travel a safe, convenient and widely accepted mode of transport
It's time for Western Australians to get on their bikes and participate in WA Bike Month 2024, Western Australia's annual celebration of bicycle riding.
The dedicated celebration has run for more than 30 years and will once again deliver a diverse range of activities. More than $75,000 in grants is supporting hundreds of events held across the State, from Wyndham to Albany.
In the metropolitan area, program partner WestCycle is hosting a flagship WA Bike Month festival to close out festivities at Poolgarla Parkland, Kings Park on Sunday 27 October 2024. Bike games, BMX workshops, learn to ride sessions and arts and crafts activities for the kids will be on offer.
WA Bike Month encourages people of all ages and abilities, whether a new, novice or rusty rider, to give riding a go, discover their local networks and experience the benefits of bike riding for fun, transport and better health.
Since 2017, the State Government has invested or allocated more than $600 million towards expanding the State's active transport network and is committed to making active travel more convenient and accessible throughout Western Australia.
WA Bike Month is a Department of Transport initiative, supported by RAC and administered by Western Australia's peak body for cycling, WestCycle.

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"As well as being the perfect opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to ride a bike for the first time or reacquaint themselves with all the benefits that riding has to offer, the hosted events will help to support community organisations all over the State.
"Our Government's ongoing investment of more than $600 million towards expanding and improving active transport infrastructure across the State is delivering better connectivity and making it easier and safer than ever before for people to walk, wheel or ride to explore their communities.
"We're continuing to provide people with more choice in how they get around and access public transport, activity and recreation centres, schools and other key destinations.
"We want to make bike riding a safe, convenient and widely accepted mode of transport and I would encourage all Western Australians to give it a try by joining the WA Bike Month fun this October."
