This year's National Farm Safety Week is presenting farmers and farming communities with a wide array of stories, information, tips and events designed to upskill safe farming practices and improve wellbeing.
The theme 'In Safe Hands' will help farming communities improve and embed safety practices in their everyday lives.
Deputy Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Policy, Matt Lowe, said the Australian Government is focused on the health, safety and wellbeing of farmers, farming families and farm workers in the agriculture industry.
"The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry supports a number of important initiatives which help improve the safety and mental health of everyone in this industry," Mr Lowe said.
"This event gives farmers practical approaches and information from peers on how they can implement on-farm safety culture in their farm businesses." Mr Lowe said.
The week-long event features discussions and practices regarding farmer support and well-being, caring for children on farms, first aid training, livestock handling, ageing on farms, and vehicle and machinery safety.
National Farm Safety Week also includes the launch of the 2024 Safer Farms Trend Report, a key annual report prepared by Farmsafe Australia.
"The great work that comes out of this event will not only help our industry remain safe but will also help it to prosper well into the future," Mr Lowe said.
The Australian Government announced $375,000 for Farmsafe Australia to continue to deliver National Farm Safety Week activities for an additional three years (2025-2027), as part of the 2024-25 Budget.
