An $81 million investment under the Australian Government's Road Safety Program will kick-start a series of safety improvements cross New South Wales roads.
These projects will improve safety and reduce the risk of crashes causing death or serious injuries.
There will be improved pedestrian access across signalised intersections, new safety barriers, roads upgraded to high-friction asphalt to prevent wet weather accidents and Audio Tactile Line Marking (ATLM).
The works delivered under this program include 49 projects within the Greater Sydney area, including 23 road safety projects, 25 walking and cycling projects, plus one mass action pedestrian protection project within both urban and regional NSW.
The funding will also deliver 179 pedestrian protection upgrades within both urban and regional locations.
Almost 400 jobs will be supported by these projects, which are expected to be delivered by 30 June 2025.
This $81 million investment under the national Road Safety Program is equally funded by the Australian and NSW governments, with each contributing $40.5 million.
