Safety along Evandale Road has received a boost with shoulder sealing between Launceston Airport and Leighlands Road completed this week.
As the gateway to Launceston airport, Evandale Road is a major route for freight and the growing numbers of visitors to northern Tasmania.
Delivering wider sealed road shoulders along four kilometres of Evandale Road is part of the Hodgman Liberal Government's five year program of over $142 million in road improvements for the Northern region to deliver safety and travel time benefits.
We have also committed a further $5.5 million to continue the upgrade work on Evandale Road, with planning now underway for the duplication of the road from the airport entrance to the Breadalbane roundabout.
These works will see the existing single lane carriageway upgraded to four lanes, with an eye to the future growth at the airport as well as the surrounding commercial and industrial precinct.
This continued upgrade of Evandale Road will improve safety for locals, and ensure the best first impression for visitors travelling from the airport.
