On Wednesday 4 December, from 2 pm to 4 pm, the Salisbury Community Hub will host the exclusive Australian launch of best-selling author Darry Fraser's latest novel, the Night on the Darling River.
Building on the City of Salisbury's success with author events, this special occasion will bring together community members and book lovers for an afternoon with Darry Fraser as she discusses her latest work, answers burning questions, and offers a book signing.
This event is a unique opportunity for residents to interact with one of Australian literature's most influential voices. Fraser's stories follow ordinary people in nineteenth-century Australia caught in adventure, mystery, and love, set against historical events and iconic landscapes.
The novel follows Tess Hawthorn as she navigates the turbulent backdrop of the 1894 Murray River flood, violent shearers' strikes, and a riverboat bound for danger. A tale of survival in a land on the brink of chaos, this book promises a thrilling journey of courage, resilience, and second chances.
A special mention of the City of Salisbury in Fraser's author notes adds a personal connection to this highly anticipated launch, highlighting the City's growing influence in the arts and culture space.
This event reflects Council's commitment to offering a vibrant arts and culture scene that brings people together. By hosting accessible and engaging author events, Salisbury continues to create spaces for literature fans to connect, offers inclusive opportunities for all community members, and strengthens its reputation as a lively arts destination.
The event includes light refreshments, and copies of The Night on the Darling River will be available for purchase.
Tickets are free. Registration is required via Eventbrite.
