Salt water over roads - king tides this week

Ballina Shire Council is reminding motorists to drive safely as king tides are likely to cause minor flooding of some local roads this week.

The first king tide will occur tonight, Tuesday 14 June, and is predicted to peak at 1.97m at around 8.30pm. A king tide of 2m is expected on Wednesday night at 9.20pm. The king tides will then continue overnight throughout the week until Sunday 19 June. For the full details visit bom.gov.au/australia/tides/#!/nsw-ballina

Council is urging motorists, motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists to take extra care when travelling during these times as water over the road may be more difficult to see at night.

Avoid affected roadways where possible and remember that salt water may affect vehicle maintenance and bodywork.

  • Tamarind Dr, Cumbalum
  • Tamar Street, Ballina
  • Riverside Drive, West Ballina
  • River Street, West Ballina
  • Burns Point Ferry Road, West Ballina
