Sam Kerr becomes the first Australia to lift the illustrious award after a record-breaking season with Chelsea. After being nominated two years in a row, Kerr finally takes the honours.
Kerr's first PFA Award win also makes her the first Australia to win PFA Players' Player of Year. She also becomes the first Australian woman to win an award after Harry Kewell won the PFA Young Player of the Year honour in 2000. Kerr's impressive year for Chelsea also saw her make the PFA Women's Super League (WSL) Team of the Year.
After being beaten out last year by Chelsea teammate Fran Kirby, Kerr takes home the 2022 trophy after scoring 20 goals in the WSL season, helping Chelsea to their third consecutive WSL title and was also named the WSL Golden Boot for a second consecutive year. The Australian striker helped Emma Hayes' side to the domestic double, scoring two goals in the Women's FA Cup Final.
Kerr was also named WSL Player of the Season last month, and also voted the Football Writers' Association's Footballer of the Year, this trophy joins the collection of honours claimed this season.
