Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema. Administrator Power and President Hichilema discussed the important partnership between the United States and Zambia and USAID's commitment to working with the Zambian people to improve health and food security. Administrator Power and President Hichilema also discussed cybersecurity and cybercrimes bills currently under review in the Zambian Parliament, including concerns related to freedom of speech, privacy, and the time allotted for public review of the proposed legislation. Finally, Administrator Power reaffirmed U.S. support for continued partnership with the Government of Zambia to drive progress toward shared development goals.
