Emerging Toowoomba artist Sarah Walker is showcasing her first solo exhibition, From Root to Fruit, at Goombungee's Rosalie Gallery from May 1 to 26, 2024.
Sarah loves to paint mostly still life pieces and uses fruit as symbols to capture moments in life and the world around her.
Each artwork captures the richness of her life using a vivid colour palette as a language of expression.
Taking this solo step in her art journey has enabled Sarah to be a role model for her daughter, who is her biggest cheerleader and critic.
Her daughter plays a key role in her art journey, which is reflected in some of the pieces.
Sarah's hope is that visitors viewing her artworks will experience some joy, hope in darkness and an extra depth in life as a result.
Sarah Walker is also an accomplished pianist. She produced Painted Music thanks to a Flying Arts Alliance Regional arts grant.
Painted Music is an ongoing arts experience recording Walker's original piano compositions combined with a painting that complements the music and is presented via the artist's House of Quirk Youtube channel.
The exhibition's artist talk is at 1pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024. This is a free event, with no bookings required.
A collage workshop with Sarah Walker for participants aged nine and older will be held on Saturday, May 18. The cost is $25 per person. Places are limited and bookings are essential.
