The Miles Labor Government has released the Scarborough Boat Harbour Master Plan, outlining the long-term vision for the direction and development of the facility.

The master plan has been formed after undertaking an evidence-based, collaborative, and consultative process, with insights and extensive feedback from stakeholders and the community.

It will be used as a strategic, decision-making and implementation tool to protect the core functions of the harbour and to guide future development opportunities.

It aims to strike a balance between sustaining a working harbour and maritime operations, while enhancing the experience and access for all.

The master plan identifies a range of future opportunities for the harbour including:

  • enhanced access and berthing for vessels
  • growth of the maritime and tourism sectors
  • improved public access, public realm and open space
  • minimising the harbour's environmental footprint and impact
  • improved integration with surrounding areas
  • driving Scarborough Boat Harbour as a destination

The Scarborough Boat Harbour is an integral part of the Redcliffe Peninsula and Moreton Bay's social, cultural, and economic landscape, and the master plan will play a key role in its future.

TMR will continue to work with Moreton Bay City Council, state agencies, stakeholders and the community to implement the vision and strategies outlined in the master plan.

"The Scarborough Boat Harbour masterplan will influence future decisions, while enhancing opportunities for the local community and businesses, and I commend the Miles Government on releasing it ahead of the election.

"I want to thank the local community groups, key stakeholders and residents who contributed their ideas to the masterplan, as local knowledge is essential in achieving the right balance.
