Student Spotlight - Josh Flick

Rye Park's Josh Flick was one of the seven students to be awarded a Tilt Renewables – CEF scholarship, which he will put towards costs associated with his studies in agriculture.

Local Foundation:

CEF Boorowa

Course Studying:

Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management

Institution:

Charles Sturt University Wagga Wagga

Growing up on the family farm, Josh has lived and breathed agriculture his whole life. Although he would eventually like to have his own farm, Josh plans to get work managing a farm after his studies.

Josh is completing the first year of a three-year Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management degree at Charles Sturt University's Wagga Wagga campus. He was awarded a $2000 scholarship which he used to go towards the cost of accommodation on campus which is a bit over $7000 per year.

The funding has allowed me to spend more time on my studies, as I haven't had to look for extra work to help pay for my expenses.

"I've got a lot out of studying economics in my degree so far, especially learning about the business side of agriculture." Having recently completed his first semester of study, he said his proudest moment so far was achieving a high distinction in the Professional Skills unit.

Tilt Renewables Executive General Manager, Delivery, Tom Villiers, said its partnership with CEF allowed it to offer intergenerational benefits for the communities of Rye Park, Boorowa and Yass. "These students have demonstrated significant potential through hard work and perseverance with their studies and we hope with the assistance of these scholarships they will enjoy every success. It would be great to see them one day working in the renewables sector or even for Tilt Renewables," he said.

The Tilt Renewables – CEF Scholarships are part of the CEF Extra program, which provides additional support and 'extra' opportunities to eligible students who have been awarded grant funding by their local CEF foundation.
