Council is thrilled to announce its 2025 scholarship program for students pursuing university and tertiary studies in fields related to Local Government. This exciting initiative provides $2,000 per annum and seven weeks of paid employment during semester breaks, offering students hands-on experience in Local Government while supporting their educational journey.
Council's Acting CEO Michelle Grainger said the program was about investing in the future of our community by supporting students in fields critical to Local Government.
"We want to empower country students to see the opportunities available in Rural Victoria and encourage them to build fulfilling careers that contribute to our region.
"Fields of interest for the scholarship include areas such as maternal and child health, environmental health, statutory planning, civil engineering, horticulture, risk management, environmental management, economic development, venue management, tourism, marketing, event management, community planning, recreation, project management, human resources, procurement, and more," Ms Grainger said.
Ms Grainger added that eligible students, including those who had already commenced their studies, were encouraged to apply.
"First Nations and Torres Strait Islander students, as well as new and continuing students, are particularly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
"In addition to financial support and valuable work experience, the scholarship offers the potential for ongoing employment with the Council upon completion of studies," she highlighted.
Applications close at 12 noon on Tuesday, 21 January 2025.
