Cessnock City Council was overwhelmed by the attendance at its annual School Leaders' Morning Tea today, with close to 250 students and teachers enjoying the 15th iteration of the annual event.
Council held the first School Leaders' event in 2010, and since that time it has become an annual fixture of Local Government Week in the Cessnock LGA.
There have been many inspirational guest speakers over the years including the likes of world champion wheelchair athlete, Kurt Fearnley, Everest conquering John Cantor and NRL legend Paul Harragon. This year's speaker was equally impressive.
Australia's first speed painter and motivational speaker, Sarah Rowan, talked about the role creativity plays in achieving goals in everyday life.
Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal said this year's School Leaders' Morning Tea will be long remembered by the more than 200 attendees representing schools from across the local government area.
"Today's engaging presentation encouraged students to believe in themselves and follow their own path, through creativity and curiosity. I am certain every student in the room left feeling inspired and knowing they can achieve anything if they put their mind to it," said Clr Suvaal.
"We are very proud to host the School Leaders' Morning Tea during Local Government Week each year and is something I hope continues for many years to come."
