Short films created by students from local Macarthur schools, Beverly Park School and Mater Dei, were screened at a special event on Monday 2 December to celebrate International Day for People with Disability.

The Focus on Ability Film Screening was held at the Campbelltown Catholic Club and showcased two short films, Kookora Class Go Recycling (Beverly Park School) and Mater Dei Marvels (Mater Dei School), to parents, support networks and service providers.

The schools submitted their films to the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival 2024, which asked film makers to focus on the ability of people with disability and tell a story on film for the world to view.

Campbelltown Mayor, Darcy Lound presented Beverly Park School's Principal Toula Finka, with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the student's work and to congratulate them on their achievement.

"This event was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the talent and stories of young people with disability in our region, and it was a pleasure to be able to give Beverly Park School a certificate of recognition on the day," said Mayor Darcy Lound.

"The films highlighted the dedication of these students, and I want to congratulate both schools on their fantastic efforts," Cr Lound said.

"Our Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2026 is an important commitment to ensure Campbelltown is a place that is accessible, inclusive and empowering. Events like this are an important part of that commitment," he said.
