- Crisafulli Government to secure a pipeline of skilled workers for Queensland with expansion of Gateway to Industry Schools Program.
- Expansion will deliver Agribusiness, Advanced Manufacturing, Hospitality and Tourism for the first time.
- Thousands of additional school students will have the opportunity to pursue careers in priority industries.
The Crisafulli Government will secure thousands of additional skilled workers for the State's future with an expansion of the Gateway to Industry Schools Program.
The expanded program will offer Agribusiness, Tourism and Hospitality and Advanced Manufacturing for the first time, expanding the reach of the program which was delivered across 372 Queensland schools and reached 45,000 students last year.
An $8.48 million in funding deliver an expanded Gateway to Industry Schools Program across 10 providers, including three new providers until January 2028.
Minister for Employment and Training Ros Bates said the program was a partnership with Queensland schools and employer businesses to build future workforces in priority industries.
"This is just one of many ways the Crisafulli Government will secure a pipeline of skilled workers in critical industries for Queensland's future," Minister Bates said.
"The additional industries added in the program expansion reflects modern skills requirements while maintaining strong foundations in traditional powerhouse industries where Queensland has a competitive advantage.
"This will support more young Queenslanders to build their skills and experience to meet growing industry demand."
The Gateway to Industry Schools Program will include the following providers until January 2028:
- Aerospace - Aviation Australia
- Agribusiness - Central Queensland University (new)
- Community Services - National Disability Services
- Tourism and Hospitality – Queensland Tourism Industry Council (new)
- Health - CheckUp Australia
- Information and Communication Technology - Australian Computer Society
- Minerals and Energy - Queensland Resources Council
- Screen and Media - Essential Crew
- Advanced Manufacturing - Manufacturing Skills Queensland (new)
- Building and Construction - Construction Skills Queensland
