Police have located a group of people missing after their car was found in flood waters in North Queensland, Queensland Police say.
Burketown Police were advised this afternoon the vehicle left Gregory for Mount Isa around 3.30pm yesterday.
The route they appear to have taken, via Gregory Downs-Camooweal Road, has been closed due to flood waters since January 6.
The occupants, possibly six in total, are believed to males and females aged between 16 and 35.
Preliminary enquiries by police confirmed the vehicle had not arrived in Mount Isa.
The vehicle (pictured) was subsequently located partially submerged in flood waters near the Seymour River by a Queensland Government Air asset during an aerial search.
A local helicopter conducting a further search of the area located the group around 6pm, approximately 8 kilometres north of the vehicle’s location.
With continuing heavy rain across large parts of Queensland, police are continuing to remind drivers not to cross flood waters.
If it’s flooded, forget it.
