Police are coordinating a search after a kayaker became trapped in a river near Malanda this afternoon, Queensland Police say.
A group of kayakers were paddling on the North Johnson River in the Wooroonooran National Park this afternoon when one of the group became trapped.
A distress beacon was activated by the group and police are currently working to get officers and specialist rescue teams to the area.
There is no further information available at this stage and efforts by police will continue overnight.
