Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing in a river in Tinana this evening, August 13.

The 26-year-old man was last seen in the Mary River near the Lamington Bridge around 5.45pm.

He is described as Caucasian, approximately 160cm tall with dyed green hair and brown eyes.

A search of the river and nearby areas have failed to locate the man.

The search will recommence at 7am tomorrow with search assets including water police, dive squad and SES.

Police are appealing to the anyone who has seen the man or have any relevant information to immediately come forward.
