Search And Rescue Operation - Milingimbi

Northern Territory Police are currently searching for a 50-year-old man who went missing over the weekend after going hunting around Milingimbi.

Family of the man contacted police yesterday and advised the 50-year-old had gone hunting around 12pm on 4 August 2024 and had not been seen since.

It is believed he had ventured into nearby mangroves and tidal flats.

Community members began searching for the man with the assistance of local police. Members from the NT Police Search and Rescue Section have arrived in the community this morning to continue with the search.

Acting Senior Sergeant Zac Winkworth said " A helicopter has been deployed and is currently surveying the area for any sign of the man.

" Police, along with the man's family, have serious concerns for his welfare and we are urging everyone in the area to keep an eye out so we can bring him home safely.

"Anyone with information is urged to call 131 444 or to visit your local station."
