Search continues for Ruth Ridley 12 months after disappearance

Victoria Police will use a specialised cadaver dog today in the search for missing woman Ruth Ridley.

The 58-year-old was reported missing to police on 30 October last year.

Despite extensive searches by both Victoria and New South Wales police around the Corryong and Walwa areas, there has been no sign of the Port Macquarie woman.

Detectives believe Ruth was camping at Neil's Reserve on Murray River Rd in Walwa overnight on the 26-27 October 2019.

Wodonga Family Violence Unit Detective Leading Senior Constable Andrew Leonard said it was understood up to four additional camp sites in the area at the time and is appealing for those who were there that night to come forward.

"To date we have only spoken to one of those campers and would really like to hear from the others that were in the area at the time," Sen Constable Leonard said.

"It's been 12 months since Ruth's disappearance even the slightest detail could be of significant assistance to help us ascertain what has occurred."

Areas surrounding the camping location will be searched by a specialised cadaver dog from the New South Wales Police Dog Unit this morning.

This investigation remains ongoing as Victoria Police prepares a report for the Coroner.

Anyone with information that could assist police with their enquiries is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
