Search Launched Over Welfare Concerns in Picnic Point

A search operation is underway after a concerns were raised for the welfare of a man in Sydney's south west.

About 10.50pm yesterday (Saturday 11 August 2024), emergency services were called to Carinya Road, Picnic Point, following reports a man was heard calling for help from the Georges River.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command commenced a search with assistance from PolAir and Marine Area Command.

An unoccupied boat and black sedan were located in the vicinity a short time later.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information into the incident, or who may have seen a black Mercedes sedan in the vicinity of Carinya Road, Picnic Point, is urged to call Bankstown police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
