Search On for Missing Boy in Macquarie River, Dubbo

A multi-agency search is underway to find a missing teenage boy in state's west.

About 5.50pm today (Monday 3 February 2025), emergency services were called to Macquarie River, near Sandy Beach Road, Dubbo, following reports of a person in water.

Police were told a 16-year-old boy could not be sighted after he went into the water to swim at about 5.40pm on the same day.

The boy is described as being of African appearance, about 175cm tall, of solid build.

He was last seen wearing blue Adidas shorts.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District, with assistance from Police Rescue, SES and VRA Rescue NSW have commenced a search operation to locate the missing boy.
