Search operation, Lake Tinaroo

A search operation has recommenced at Lake Tinaroo in the Tablelands this morning, for a 49-year-old man who went missing while swimming yesterday (February 12).

Emergency services were called to Church Street just after 11am to reports a man had gone missing in the lake.

Initial information indicates the man was assisting two children return to shore when he has failed to resurface.

The children were assessed by paramedics on scene, and were not physically injured.

Assets deployed to assist in the search yesterday include police on foot, water police, QGAIR Rescue 510 helicopter, QFES, the dive squad along with members of the public on boats and jet skis.

The search continued until approximately 11pm overnight, and reconvened at first light this morning.

The search is ongoing today utilising police including water police and the dive squad along with SES volunteers, drones and QFES swift water rescue.

Support services have been offered to the family of the man.
