Search Resumes For Missing Fisherman - Port Stephens

The search for a man missing from a recreational fishing vessel has resumed this morning.

About 1.35pm yesterday (Sunday 23 February 2025), emergency services were alerted that a man had fallen overboard about 1pm during a fishing competition.

Crews from the NSW Police Force Marine Area Command, PolAir, Marine Rescue NSW, and Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded to the area, about 55km off the Newcastle coast.

The search for the 58-year-old man was suspended at last light yesterday (Sunday 23 February 2025), before resuming at 8am this morning (Monday 24 February 2024).

Initial inquiries suggest the man had become entangled in fishing tackle before falling overboard.
