Search to resume for missing swimmer - Laughtondale

A search will resume this morning for a man who went missing while swimming in a river in Sydney's north west.

About 6.10pm yesterday (Monday 17 January 2022), emergency services were called to the Hawkesbury River at Laughtondale, near Wisemans Ferry, following reports of a missing swimmer.

Police were told a 32-year-old man – who was on a houseboat with family and friends – went for a swim near the boat and failed to resurface.

Officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command, with assistance from the Marine Area Command, NSW State Emergency Services (SES), Westpac Rescue Helicopter and local boaters commenced an extensive search of the area.

The search was suspended due to poor light just before 10pm.

The search will resume this morning (Tuesday 18 January 2022) about 8am, and will involve similar resources, including Police Divers, Marine Rescue and Maritime Services.
