Sec. Austin Meets Polish Deputy PM & Defense Minister

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III held bilateral talks with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz to discuss the U.S.-Poland bilateral security relationship, Polish defense modernization, and the continued need for additional security assistance in Ukraine.

Secretary Austin thanked Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz for the support Poland provides to the thousands of U.S. servicemembers deployed in Poland to bolster NATO's eastern flank. The leaders discussed the continued defense modernization of Poland and NATO, including the recent agreement between Poland and private industry to co-produce Patriot missile launchers. Both leaders noted the importance of increased defense spending to ensure readiness and reinforce deterrence.

The two leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the Ukrainian people, and to delivering the support needed to help Ukraine defend itself from Russia's brutal war.
