One person has died following a head-on crash involving two cars towing trailers on SH1 in Northland.
The crash occurred north of Okaihau just after 7pm.
The driver of one car was killed and the two occupants of the second car both have moderate injuries.
The road is currently closed in both directions and motorists are advised that there will be significant delays, particularly as the serious crash unit is attending an earlier fatal two-car crash near Kaitaia.
