Second Man Charged After Prison Escape At Broken Hill

A second man has been charged after an alleged escape from a Broken Hill correctional facility.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District began investigating the whereabouts of two men – aged 23 and 28 – after they allegedly escaped from a correctional facility about 9.40pm on Sunday 9 March 2025.

About 11.30am on Monday 10 March 2025, police arrested the younger man and a 31-year-old woman in his company, following a police pursuit that travelled through Coomealla, Buronga and Gol Gol, in the state's south.

They remain before the courts.

Following extensive inquiries, about 9.30am today (Wednesday 12 March 2025), officers attended a home on O'Neill Street, Broken Hill and located the 28-year-old man inside the home.

He was arrested on virtue of a warrant and taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with inmate escape/attempt to escape from lawful custody.

He was refused bail to appear before Dubbo Local Court today (Wednesday 12 March 2025).
