Second Man Charged As Part Of Home Invasion - Pyrmont

Police have charged a second man as investigations continue into an alleged home invasion and serious assault in Sydney last month.

About 4.40pm on Tuesday 21 May 2024, emergency services were called to a home on Wattle Crescent, Pyrmont following reports a 38-year-old man had sustained serious injuries to his head and arm.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene. Strike Force Littoral, which comprises detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command, was formed to investigate the incident.

Following inquiries, a 37-year-old man was arrested and was charged with break and enter dwelling and inflict grievous bodily harm on any person.

He was refused bail and appeared at Burwood Local Court on 22 May 2024. He was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on 17 July 2024.

About 9.20pm yesterday (Friday 31 May 2024), investigators attended a residence on Edna Avenue, Merrylands and conducted a search warrant at the premises. Police arrested a 37-year-old man, who was taken to Granville police station.

The man was charged with break and enter into dwelling and inflict grievous bodily harm on any person and assault person intend criminal activity of criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court later today (Saturday 1 June 2024)
