Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić has met the Austrian president, key ministers, and personalities during an official visit to Austria.
Meeting Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, the Secretary General highlighted the relevance of the Fourth Summit of the Heads of State and Government in Reykjavik (16th - 17th May), organised by the Icelandic Presidency of the Committee of Ministers. She stressed the importance of the proposal to set up a register to record and document evidence and claims of damage, loss, or injury resulting from Russian aggression against Ukraine.
She met Minister of Justice Alma Zadic with discussions including the European Union's accession to the European Convention of Human Rights and the issue of accountability for Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
In the meeting with European and International Affairs Minister Alexander Schallenberg, Marija Pejčinović Burić emphasised the Council of Europe's role supporting Ukraine and the preparations for the 4th Summit.
The Secretary General also had an exchange of views with the Permanent Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
She also took part in a high-level panel on "Justice for Ukraine - How to hold Russia accountable for war crimes", at the Concordia Press Club. She concluded her visit to Vienna at the Innovation in Politics Institute.
