Secretary of Defense Lloyd J.
Austin III spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Benjamin "Benny" Gantz for an introductory call today.
Minister Gantz congratulated the Secretary on his new position, and Secretary Austin reaffirmed the strength of the U.S.-Israel defense relationship.
Secretary Austin also reiterated the U.S.
commitment to maintain Israel's Qualitative Military Edge.
Both leaders agreed to remain in close coordination on shared defense priorities.
Secretary Austin and Minister Gantz agreed to meeting in person at the earliest opportunity.
