Next week, Rockhampton Regional Council is set to commence an upgrade on a section of Somerset Road, Gracemere improving connectivity to the Gracemere Industrial Area.
This upgrade will bring this section of road to the same standards of the already completed 2.1km stretch of Somerset Road.
The works will include improvements to stormwater, full pavement reconstruction, road widening, and kerb and channel on the property side of Somerset Road.
Somerset Road is a key B-Double route and sees high traffic volumes of heavy vehicles mixed with residential traffic.
These works aim to improve road drainage, property access, and road width, allowing the road to be more suitable for heavy vehicle movements and improving the overall safety of the area for users.
We ask residents and road users to ensure they follow the signed detours whilst the works are underway and be mindful of workers in the area.
The project has funding contributions from Rockhampton Regional Council and the Queensland Government's Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme.
Works will commence on 4 March 2024 and are expected to conclude in October 2024, subject to road and weather conditions.
