If you are part of a community group that does amazing things in the Macleay Valley, you will be thrilled to hear that round two of the Council Community Grants Program is about to open for 2023/24.
We want to help support your community organisation with vital funds for projects that deliver community-led projects in a wide variety of forms that benefit Kempsey Shire.
In round two of the 2023-24 Council Community Grants Program there is funding available in three categories:
Mayoral Community Fund – Community organisations with projects that align with Kempsey Shire Council's strategic plan can apply for grant funding under the Mayoral Community Fund. This includes arts, culture, history, and initiatives that foster innovation, inclusion, and participation in community events.
Sporting Grants – If you are a local Kempsey shire sporting club, apply for grant funding to purchase new equipment or to make minor improvements to facilities. For example, seating, barbeque equipment for fundraising, club house upgrades.
NAIDOC Week Quick Grant – If you're hosting a NAIDOC week event, receive $500 in funding to help you engage the community during NAIDOC week celebrations in July this year.
The first round of the 2023-24 Community Grants Program was a success with 21 applications received. The total funding requested within the five categories totalled $57,503.00. Of these, 17 organisations were determined to have successfully met the Community Grant Program's eligibility criteria.
In round one the Mayoral Fund and Sporting Fund were undersubscribed despite the Community Partnership team's efforts in advertising the programs to eligible groups. The undersubscribed budget from the first round of funding will be utilised for this second round of community grants along with NAIDOC week quick grants.
How to apply
Applications for round two of Councils Community Grants will open on Monday 26 February and close on Monday 25 March. Successful applicants will be notified in April 2024.
