Serious Assault Involving Motor Vehicle At Devonport

A 42-year-old Spreyton man is due to face court charged with Criminal Code Assault and driving with a suspended driver licence following an incident in Rose Court, Devonport about 12:50pm on Saturday 18 May 2024.

Police will allege the man intentionally drove a white Toyota Hilux utility at a 52-year-old Devonport man, striking him twice following a dispute. The two are known to each other.

The Devonport man received chest injuries and was transported by Ambulance Tasmania to the Launceston General Hospital. He remains in a stable condition.

Police closed off Rose Court and part of Best Street for a short time while an investigation and forensic processing of the scene was undertaken.

The Spreyton man was also charged with unrelated drug offences and has been held to appear in an out-of-hours session at the Devonport Magistrates Court today.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
