Serious Collision Leaves Lower Plenty Motorcyclist Injured

Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision in Lower Plenty this morning.

It is believed the driver of a Hyundai hatchback was travelling along Main Road when he collided with a motorcyclist about 1.50am.

The impact forced the car and the motorcycle to crash into the median strip and the car then flipped onto its roof.

The rider, a 22-year-old Hastings man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver, a 34-year-old Viewbank man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital under police guard.

Both directions of Main Road between Yallambie Road and Para Road are expected to be closed for several hours.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
