Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on State Highway 27, between MacMillan Road and Langlands Road, near Tirau.
The crash was reported to Police at 11.10am and involved a car and a truck.
Initial information from the scene is that one person was critically injured.
A power pole was also impacted in the collision, bringing power lines down on to the road.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time and traffic management is being put in place.
