Serious Marine Incident, Paradise Point

Gold Coast Water Police are investigating after a 47-year-old man was seriously injured in a marine incident at Paradise Point yesterday, June 23.

Initial investigations indicate just before 3.30pm, a dinghy was travelling south between Sovereign Island and Paradise Point when it struck an unoccupied yacht which was anchored in waters off The Esplanade.

The skipper of the dinghy, a 47-year-old Gold Coast man, sustained life-threatening head injuries and was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Two passengers who were also aboard the dinghy, a 41-year-old Mount Warrant Park man and a 56-year-old Mount Nathan man, were not physically injuried, and are assisting police with investigations.

Witnesses or anyone with relevant vision is urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
