Police have charged a man following an incident in Wilsonton overnight involving the alleged unlawful use of a motor vehicle and serious obstruct of police.
Around 11.30pm police and emergency services were called to the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant on Bridge Street, Wilsonton where it will be alleged a man was inside a stolen Nissan QASHQAI, blocking the laneway.
Police attempted to engage with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, who verbally abused police before becoming aggressive. It will be further alleged the man tried to accelerate and reverse the vehicle, ramming an ambulance and unmarked police vehicle in the process.
Officers deployed a taser and the man was taken into custody without further incident.
A 25-year-old Cambooya man was denied police bail and faced Toowoomba Magistrates Court today on seven charges, including one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapons, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, serious assault police officer (obstruct), possess dangerous drugs, possess anything used in the commission of a crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and three charges relating to unlicensed driving.
