Serious Traffic Crash at Laguna Quays, Police Respond

The Mackay Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a serious two vehicle traffic crash at Laguna Quays yesterday morning, May 18.

Initial investigations indicate that around 10.25am, a group of motorcycles was travelling southeast on Kunapipi Road, before one of the motorcycles, a Honda VT400C, collided with a silver Holden Colorado travelling in the opposite direction.

As a result of the crash a second motorbike, a Kawasaki VN800, with a pillion passenger lost control and crashed into a nearby ditch.

The rider of the Honda, a 40-year-old Strathdickie woman, was airlifted to Mackay Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the Holden, a 67-year-old Midge Point man, was not physically injured.

A passenger in the Holden, a 74-year-old Midge Point woman, sustained minor injuries.

The two occupants of the Kawasaki sustained minor injuries.

Officers are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have relevant dashcam or CCTV video footage to contact police.
