The Windsor Hotel in Dalby will be hosting an exclusive night of 'Schooners & Stories' with international Rugby Union broadcaster Gordon Bray on Saturday 8 March at 6.30pm as part of the Words Out West Western Downs Readers and Writers Festival.
Affectionately known as "The Voice of Rugby," Gordon Bray has been a pillar of Australian sports broadcasting for decades, calling more than 400 international rugby matches across his illustrious career.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said great storytelling was at the heart of the Words Out West Festival and the community was incredibly fortunate to have a sporting icon like Gordon Bray in Dalby for one night only.
"His voice has been the soundtrack to some of the greatest moments in rugby history and to have him share his experiences right here on the Western Downs is a rare and special opportunity for our region," Mayor Smith said.
"As one of the main events in the wider Words Out West festival, 'Schooners & Stories' offers a unique opportunity for creative minds and sporting fanatics alike to enjoy the art of storytelling in all its forms.
"This event is a fantastic chance for our community to connect, celebrate our love of sport and hear one of the most respected voices in Australian broadcasting.
"Events like 'Schooners & Stories' not only enrich our cultural landscape but also attract visitors who appreciate sports and storytelling to our region."
Tickets are priced at $20, which includes admission to The Windsor Hotel for the exclusive presentation.
Food and drinks are not included, but attendees are invited to order meals from the menu.
