Emergency Services are urging residents of Alice Springs to take extreme caution after damaging winds brought down power lines and trees this evening.
Just before 5.55pm multiple reports were received of trees and power lines down in private premises and public roads through a broad corridor including Larapinta, Araluen, Gillen and the Gap.
Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services are attending and all traffic directions must be adhered to.
The Bureau of Meteorology is advising severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Alice Springs, Arltunga and Jervois.
