Severe Weather Event – Saturday 30 December 4pm
We would like to thank all of the City staff and partners, many who have been impacted by the storm.
City staff continue to work through the thousands of tasks to restore and maintain City services.
QFES have attended to more than 2000 homes for damage assessments, and we expect this number to rise over the coming days.
Energex has indicated there are about 14,500 homes still without power with crews working around the city to help get the power up and running.
SES and RFS volunteers continue to attend to hundreds of jobs that are still outstanding. Additional emergency services are on their way from Victoria to assist with Hundreds of remaining SES assistance requests.
Support has been secured from disaster-related Non-Government Organisations including Rapid Relief Team who have commenced removal of storm debris from around the city.
As clean up efforts continue, and significant storm debris remains across the Gold Coast, there is an increased risk of injury. We're asking everyone to take care and ensure any leftover storm debris doesn't impede safe pedestrian access.
The city is not experiencing any drinking water quality issues.
